Raša  - Coat of Arms Raša is a small town and municipality in the county of Istria in Croatia. Raša is the seat of the municipality, which has 23 smaller towns and villages. The whole municipality has about 3,000 inhabitants, who are mainly engaged in agriculture, fishing, and more recently in tourism. Once the mining was the main industry, but today Raša is turning to tourism and ecological agriculture. Raša is the youngest town in Istria, which was built in 1937 by Italian authorities, for the needs of workers and miners of nearby coal mines. Mining activity in this area dates back to the 17th century and Venetian administration. The production of coal reached its peak in 1942 when it produced more than one million tons of coal. The tourism sector consists of two campsites for several hundred tourists, and over two hundred private renters of rooms and apartments, as well as a substantial number of other smaller restaurants. Along the coast, there are Trget, Trgetari, Koromačno and Sveta Marina, which developed tourism offering and increased number of high-quality accommodation.
