Tourist guide - Daruvar

Daruvar - Coat of Arms Daruvar is a town in central Croatia, situated in a hilly area at the foot of the Papuk Mountains. It is one of the best-loved small towns in continental Croatia due to the unique combination of greenery, landscaped parks and city architecture, cultural diversity and fertile vineyards. Daruvar was once called Podborje, but the name changed in the 18th century after Count Antun Janković built a baroque castle and called it Daruvar (in Hungarian - Crain town). The Janković Castle is the most famous and most impressive building in Daruvar built in the late Baroque style, from 1771 to 1777. Close to the city center, there are two well-groomed parks and forest park which are discreetly linked with the city's architecture. Daruvar is a well-known spa town with famous Daruvar's thermal baths. The Daruvar's thermal baths are located in the very heart of the city, on the very springs of medicinal thermal water and mineral mud, surrounded by a large and beautifully landscaped park of monumental architecture and great horticultural value. Above Daruvar is the old Slavonian mountain Papuk, full of interesting sources, waterfalls, and a rich and varied plant and animal world that is best discovered by walking or hiking. In Daruvar you can experience an interesting gastronomic offer and try very good Czech beer and quality wine from Daruvar vineyards. There are numerous cultural and entertainment events in Daruvar as well: Vincekovo (Vinodar's opening season), Vinodar (the most important seven-day event of the city and wine-growers), Darfest (festival of fun music), FLIG (international music festivals), Dožínky - the largest manifestation of the Czech minority), Maska (theatrical festival for the youngest), Martinje (wine-baking ceremony), Christmas fair ... Accommodation in Daruvar except in Daruvar's thermal baths can be found in several family hotels and in private family accommodation in rooms, apartments and holiday homes. We invite you to visit this beautiful little town that will surprise you with its rich tourist offer and in which you will be fully relaxed. Welcome to Daruvar!
