Bear refuge Kuterevo provides shelter for bears, especially for bear cubs that have been left behind or that have lost their parents. In addition to providing shelter for bears, bear refuge Kuterevo promotes and educates people about protecting nature, bear habitat, forests, preserving local mountain community traditions and living in harmony with nature. There are more than 1,000 bears in Croatia and bear refuge Kuterevo has certainly helped to preserve the stable population...

Volunteers from all over the world and their mentors are taking care of bears. They also educate visitors about the character, habits, and life of bears. The refuge is open to visitors in the spring, summer, and fall, while it is closed in winter as bears sleep throughout the winter. Ticket prices range from 15 to 20 kuna, and all revenues are used for the improvement of conditions for bears. Bear refuge Kuterevo is an unavoidable stop for all nature and bear lovers.
